About the Author

David Wren

David Wren – British espionage and spy thriller author, identity redacted

David Wren writes espionage fiction drawn from a career spent inside the systems that build and defend modern Britain – major infrastructure, defence, and the quiet machinery of assurance and procurement that most people never see and rely on entirely.

He served in the British Army before moving into that world, and he writes under a pen name for reasons his readers will probably understand by the end of the first book.

Author's Note

The institutional texture of my novels – how infrastructure programmes are governed, how contracts are varied, how supply chains are assured, and how the state watches over them – is drawn from years of professional experience. The events and the people are not.

The consultancies, contractors, suppliers, and programmes at the centre of the stories are invented. They are not portrayals of, and are not intended to resemble, any firm the author has worked for or with, any client the author has advised, or any individual the author has encountered in the course of that work. No confidential, commercially sensitive or classified information appears anywhere in this book, and none was used in writing it.

Where real institutions are named, they are used as furniture. They exist, and a novel set in this world would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. Nothing in these pages should be read as an account of how they actually operate, or as a suggestion of any wrongdoing by them or by anyone within them.
